Granville Island    Only being a half Island it is located in the middle of Vancouver. It has all kinds of art stores, boutiques and a big indoor market to offer. If the sun is shining you can just sit outside, enjoy the water and listen to one of the musicians. There is also a lot of food to eat, from all over the world.

Activities in and around Vancouver downtown

Explore Vancouver    For a day you can get a daypass for the public transport. Take a ride to the various districts of the city. E.g. Kitsilano has a nice beach and many cute stores and cafes. Or to chinatown with the worlds second biggest chinese population outside of china. Walk to Yaletown where the urban yuppies live, or to the financial district to see the big and quite stunning skyscrapers.

Stanley Park    For some nature in the big city, you should check out stanley park, North America's second largest urban park. There is a path that goes all the way around the park (about 9km) alongside the coast line. We do not recomend walking there at night, as it is quite dangerous to walk anywhere in Vancouver where there are no bright lights ie. parks, alleys, dark streets, etc...after 10pm.

Robson Street    Take a stroll along Robson Street, the most known shopping street in Vancouver (It's the street Tropicana is on). If you don't feel like shopping, have a coffee and people watch. There are lots of heated outdoor patios, so that you can sit outside all year long.

Vancouver beach activities    Spend a day on one of Vancouver's sandy beaches while playing some beach volleyball or relaxing. Swimming is not really recommended due to pollution. But there is a swimming pool that is directly at the ocean. Then you feel like you're swimming in the ocean but have the advantage of being in an outdoor pool

  Indoors   visit a museum. E.g Scienceworld (http://www.scienceworld.bc.ca)
